Jaya had been at The House of Night less then 24 hours and to be honest, it was all a little overwhelming. It was so... No like her old Vampyre for wizards and the threat of death hanging around the place. Well that sounded a little depressing. She wasn't hating it so far, it was all just a bit... Dazzling? Confusing? Over powering was more the world. A day ago she'd left the house in a rage after an argument with Jonah her brother, it had been a normal day, all until she got home. That's when the tracker had found her. God if she'd known... She'd never have argued with Jonah, she never would have disobeyed him, stayed out bust curfew or annoyed him. If she'd known... Hindsight was a wonderful thing. Jaya had been told she didn't have a roommate yet, so after sleeping and setting up her room just so, Jaya decided it was time to take the plunge and actually go out side her room. Daunting thought...Jaya cracked her dorm room opened and made her way down to the common room, biting the inside of her lip nervously. Jaya wasn't usually the nervious type, but after the events of the last day; being Marked, packing up, leaving her her brother, changing her name, being left in a building with a bunch of girls she'd never met, she decided it was ok to be just a little bit nervious. Her topas eyes looked round the room, taking in the room and the people there.

Blackjack knew that the other guys thought it extremely strange that he spent most of his time in the girls' common room, despite not having a girlfriend. (that wasn't exactly true either, he had several exes, though two of them were psycho and the third was just... Lacey.) In truth, he found that the girls' dorm was simply more interesting, and by this point, most of the girls didn't even pay any attention to him. Which wasn't bad. Besides, they had better satellite reception than the boys' common room did. Bonus! Blackjack glanced up when he heard someone coming down the dorm hallway and into the common room. In a heartbeat, he recognized her. The Starbucks girl? Interesting. It really is too bad I don't believe in coincidences. He smirked to himself and vacated his seat on one of the bigger couches, intending to find out who she was and how long ago she'd arrived. Well, she had to have arrived before he came in to watch TV, because he never saw her come in, but hey, you never know. He didn't have the same finely-honed senses as Mo, though his senses were enhanced by his being a fledgling. "So, you're one of our new third formers, right?" he said, greeting her with a completely casual tone. "The name's Blackjack- resident terror of the sixth form. And you are..?" It'll be interesting to see if she recognizes me, he mused. That would be.. interesting.(( hmm, idk, I just like playing Blackjack lately XD my other characters are so abused and ignored ))

At the words directed at her, Jaya turned to see who was talking. Immediately bells began to ring in her mind. The boy looked... Familiar... She searched her memory but came up dry, it wasn't school... Or a friend of her brother. Who was he? " Yea, I am. I've only been here for like a day or so." Looking from his deep red cersent moon to his eyes it suddenly struck her. She relized now where she knew him from, only he didn't have a Mark last time their lives had crossed. Jaya's eyes widened at the realization, " I, I saw you in star bucks a few weeks back" She frowned. " But you didn't have a mark. How can you be a 6th former?"

He grinned nastily when she realized who he was. "You don't really think that we are banned from leaving the grounds, do you? You're of the female persuasion, surely you've heard of this thing called concealer." He smirked and added, "Besides, I'm not even a local." Yeah, because they thought I was sneaking out and doing naughty things. Little did they know they were right... kinda. It's not like they expressly said in the rules that I wasn't allowed to date my girlfriend and deal shit. He snickered at the thought, then returned his attention to the newly Marked fledgling. "At any rate, yes, that was me in Starbucks. I admit, I was curious why you were in my spot, until I remembered that I usually show up at ungodly hours, when there's usually no one but drunks and college students around. Excluding the occasional traveling vampyre."

The grin the boy gave Jaya made her frown for a moment before smoothing out her features. " Charming..." She thought to herself. Although maybe she'd misread the gesture, although she guessed now. But this was new information. Jaya had never seen fledglings while she was a human, now she knew why. " Fledglings were concealer?" Well, she guessed it must be socially acceptable for guys to wear make up as a fledglings, just something else that was different. It was a bad move on the boy's part to call her table his though. Jaya's hand went to her hip as she looked defiantly up at the boy. " Now, I do belive that that day I was sitting at my table. I think you must be mistaken."

Blackjack smirked. "Girl, I'm not stupid. I'm not a kid prodigy like my ex-girlfriend, but I have a functional brain. And I am quite capable of remembering which table I always sit at. It's this thing called ' habit'. Ever heard of it?" He fiddled with one of the fingerless gloves on his hands, looking somewhat bored. Admittedly, he wanted to laugh, as he was ridiculously short and she was shorter than him by at least an inch, if not more. "At any rate, yes, we wear concealer. If you haven't noticed, teenagers do stupid things. Fledglings can, and do, get themselves in trouble." He snorted. "Hah. I should know, considering my history."

Well this guy was seriously not instilling confidence about the student population. If they were all like his boy, then her time at this school was going to be very long. She wondered if his attitude was the reason his girlfriend was now the ex-girlfriend. But she decided against asking. " You? So shy and timid? I find it hard to believe you'd get into any trouble." She said sarcastically, crossing her arms over her chest. Jaya wasn't usually snippy like this but if he was going to be like this to her she'd do the same right back.

Blackjack smirked, enjoying himself thoroughly. "Yeah, not me, the kid with no parents and a forged drivers' license. Definitely not me, the kid who skipped school just to be able to pay rent on an apartment no bigger than the average closet," he countered, equally sarcastic, despite the occasional truth in his words. "And if you're wondering, she's only my ex-girlfriend because the vampyres don't like fledglings dating humans. Not that I care much, I've had one psycho girl too many."

Jaya knew how to hold her own in a conversation like this, Hell, Jonah and her had enough of them. They'd chuck half assed comments at each other, until one of them snapped. It had become there pattern since he'd become her guardian. It saddened Jaya slightly, if she'd known this was going to happen she never would have upset him. But the boy's comment about having no parents hit home for her, even if he was talking about himself. Hell Jaya knew how it felt. She also knew how it felt to be stressed about money although Jonah had never let her skip school to help. "Well, being Marked could only be a good thing then," Jaya spoke to herself as much as the older boy in front of her. With her here then Jonah could go back to school, make something of himself without her getting in the way. At the words about his ex girlfriend Jaya raised an eyebrow, " And there was my thinking you disregarded the rules..."

"Hey, Blackjack. Causing trouble?" A friendly, teasing voice called as Isis came from the kitchen, a bag of preztles in one hand and a diet coke in the other. She sipped her drink then popped a pretzle in her mouth, coming around and held out the bag to her friend. "Pretzle?" she offered with a smile, then glanced at Jaya and waved. She took another sip of the pop to wash the salty treat down before speaking once more. "Hey there. I'm Isis, Goddess of the Third Formers." she introduced herself, spreading her arms out in a formal bow.
"I see you've met the terror known as Blackjack." she said, eating two more pretzles. "He's really not that bad," she said with a smirk then a sip of pop.

Blackjack only grinned in response to Jaya's remark, but turned to look as Isis came out of the kitchen. "Me, cause trouble? Hah, I was just offering to show her around, like a good sixth former," he responded, taking a pretzel from the bag. " Annnywaaay, I still need inspiration for that damned essay that Indigo assigned.. the TV sure isn't helping any. Him and his essays!" Blackjack grumbled, his hazel eyes flickering with irritation. "It really is too bad that I can't get away with skipping class." He munched on the pretzel, momentarily looking thoughtful. "Hey, Isis, don't tell October, but I bought some Swedish chocolate last weekend- d'ya want some?"

Jaya waited for the boy's reply before another girl appeared, suplying the nameless boy's name. Blackjack... Well, it is certainly original, like him. Jaya couldn't decide if that was a good thing or not. But when the girl introduced herself, Jaya was sure how to react. Goddess or third formers, She really wasn't sure what to make of it. " I'm Jaya," She introduced herself to both of them, as she realized Blackjack didn't actually know her name. " Yea, of course showing be around." Jaya muttered to no one in particular. She felt over powered, what the Hell was she meant to make of this pair?
