Being Marked:
When one is Marked, it is done so by the Tracker. There is usually one tracker per region, a region being the surrounding area of several Houses of Night. For instance, the Tracker for our House of Night also serves the one down in the big city, and the one up near the Canadian border in Vermont. The Change:
Generally, it is teens that are 15 or 16 years old who are Marked. This is so that they will be about twenty when/if they complete the Change. However, as you might guess, there are, once in awhile, younger or older teens that are Marked, often because Nyx specifically requested the Tracker to Mark them.
In the roleplay, it will be Nyx who Marks human teens. In other words, I will be invading your posts, using a blue font, and I will ensure that your human teen is Marked. Once I Mark your character, it's up to you to get them over to the House of Night and situated.
Not all fledglings will complete the Change. In fact, only about a third of them do. That other two thirds? They reject the Change and die at some point during their four years at a House of Night. No one knows the reasons why fledglings die, unless they stray from adult vampyres. Then they die from not having contact with an adult vampyre. But anyway, Nyx, and Nyx alone, knows why fledglings reject the Change. Some vampyres speculate that it is her way of removing fledglings that don't meet expectations; others claim that it is random. There are also a number of other theories, all with no way to be proved.
In the roleplay, Nyx will notify you that your fledgling is doomed to die a horrible death, or that your fledgling is about to complete the Change and become an adult vampyre. I will probably just invade a thread involving the fledgling I'm looking for and, in a blue font and big letters, I'll speak. If your fledgling has been slated for rejection, you must begin roleplaying their deaths within a week. They must be dead within two weeks. If your fledgling was told to grow up, the same time limit applies. They must be adult vampyres within two weeks.
