Thread is private for me and Lafta.
Being a human is great Sometimes you just needed some salt, sometimes you just didn't want to have sweet popcorn. As the last costumers walked away, Imogen quickly stalked to the popcorn machine and grabbed a plastic bag of salt popcorn. She pulled it open and grabben some popcorn. It didn't bother her that they weren't fresh or that they were cold, why would she mind that? She was tired and accidentaly the bag slipped through her fingers and popcorn rolled all over the floor. 'Oh dammit!' she somewhat growled at herself while she grabbed a broom and began pushing the popcorn into a little corner. She grabbed a towel and hoped that nobody would suspect her from doing that. One reason why she worked here was because she needed some cash, since she went to a private school her parents had stopped giving her pocket money because they thought she was old enough to earn money by herself. She knew they were right about that, but she loved being outside and she loved shopping so what was she doing in a theater? She sighed as she sat down on the little wooden chair in the hall. Nobody was there and some movies were being played so she had nothing to do. She grabbed a choclate bar and began chewing on the chocolate that melted on her tongue.
She smiled, satisfied that she did get free snacks, even if she had to eat them without anybody noticing it. Chocolate always made her happy, and she talked much by it. Because most of the time she was silent and calm. When she heard the door being opened she gasped and dropped the chocolate bar on the small table. 'Oh, I'm busted now!' she smiled to the stranger who had indeed busted her with sneakily eating chocolate that had to be paid for.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

As a general rule, Carter didn't wear make up. In his opinion, no straight man had any reason to wear make up. But since he wasn't a normal guy anymore? Carter had too wear the foundation cover up gloop the school provided. It was weird, knowing their was muck on his face and every so often he had to catch himself from trying to wipe it off. But in order to leave the school grounds it was what he needed to do, "All fledglings must cover their mark when they leave school grounds."See? couldn't get much clearer than that. So today (rather tonight) Carter was out, yes with the muck on his face, but out of the school grounds non the less. It was the weekend, so no classes and he could actually get out early enough to actually see a movie. But honestly he couldn't help but be disappointed, it sucked. He had been seriously mislead. Glancing at his watch he rolled his eyes, a little after midnight. Maybe he should be getting back, Hell it wasn't going to be missing much. Slipping out of half empty theater he stepped through the doors, blinking in the sudden brightness, eyes mating the girl, a guilty look on her face. "Busted for what exactly?" He raised an eyebrow, moving over and leaned against the wall next to the doors, regarding the girl. Not bad looking, he noted in his head, before forcefully reminding himself she was a human,

Being a human is great Imogen noticed that a guy had busted her. Hmm.. nice one. Huh? He has make-up? she wondered that because she could see that he had foundation on his forehead. She knew how to see that, because when you were standing in the light with foundation on your face it would glimmer slightly. It could hardly be noticed by anyone. She was aware about whe whole fledgling/vampyre thing around here, but she didn't know that they were allowed out of their school. So she didn't suspect him to be one. She grinned 'For eating chocolate and popcorn while I need to pay for it. I work here, and still need to pay for it!' she explained it in the shortest way she could. Except for the guy being a little... pale, he looked cool. And somewhere in her mind she wondered if he thought the same. 'And I accidentaly dropped an open plastic bag of popcorn and just shoved them in a corner and covered it with a towel.' she said. He didn't work here too, and he didn't look like someone who would report it. Besides, what did popcorn in a corner with a towel over it matter? It wasn't like she had to clean the whole place, that was were the cleaning service was for. Even if they had one.
'Did you came here to watch a move?' she asked curiously after she'd glanced on her watch. Hell, it was a little after midnight, she would have to be home soon!

Carter couldn't help but feel for the human girl, her work hours really did suck. Oh course this life had quickly become normal for him, with the whole night and day reversal, but humans still had to work the wondrous night shift. Gutted for her. As his eyes took her in he couldn't help but be impressed, for human she still looked pretty good for it being late, impressive. But that was the problem, human. No relationships with humans unless family, that meant friendship or anything else. That was another one of those rules, along with covering his mark. He wondered briefly if you could see the foundation, he hoped not. That could just lead to awkward questions. The sides of Carter mouth twitched up slightly at her answer. " Well if it's there for the taking. They obviously aren't paying ya' enough."He'd probably do the same in her place, hey the food was right there, why not? He nodded at her next question, " Yea I did, but it's crappy. I couldn't be bothered watching the rest. I thought I may as well just head, - back..." He ended his sentance lamely. He couldn't same "home", although that's what the House of Night was, he just didn't want to say that.

Being a human is great As Imogen was wondering about the fact why he was wearing foundation, she thought about her best friend who'd been Marked. The feeling that she was talking to an actuall fledgling was becoming stronger but she didn't let him notice it. Because, what would happen if she told him that she'd seen that he wore foundation and that she knew that he had the outline of crescent moon under it all? She grinned at him when he said that they weren't paying her enough. 'Oh I just work here so well... why would they pay me more huh?' she said. She noticed that there was something about him, was he nervous? He seemed to be deep in thoughts.
When he said it would head "back" she knew that he'd stumbled over his words. She smiled to him kindly. 'You're busted by me. See, my best friend was Marked but we were forced to break the contact.' she said in one breath and a quick sentence as she wanted to say it quickly. She got up slowly. 'Eh I know one rule of the... well the place you're living and it is that you always have to wear foundation. I got a tip for you: don't put too much on it or it'll glimmer a bit in the light even if it's from an electric light.' she still smiled, she wasn't afraid of vampyres or fledglngs or whatever they were called. In fact, she loved the night! which was why she looked to nice even if it was shortly after midnight. I've actually chosen for this work times, you know.'[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Carter opened his mouth to make some sarcastic comment about minimum wage or working the late shift. But all quick witted remarks flew out of his head at her words. She'd busted him? Crap... Well it wasn't exactly a rule as such to keep your fledgling status a secret, apart from covering your mark, but Carter knew it wasn't encouraged. He had a feeling if a teacher from school was to walk round the corner right now he'd be in a tight spot. " And how can you be sure I'm marked? Maybe I just have a bad complexion and like to cover it up." Well, it was a long shot but maybe she'd have a second thought. He wasn't going to admit it, not yet at least. When she gave him the lipped he laughed lightly, " I've got to put on this much to make my skin look silky smooth." Ok, maybe not convincing but that was his story and he was sticking to it. Carter's eyebrows raised when she said she liked working this shift, who choose the night shift? Unless the pay was better but in a place like this he doubted it. Secretly Carter was glad for a change of topic. " Why would you choose to work the night shift, who would?"

Being a human is great She sat down on the low table even while there were chairs, but they were cold and hard and just comfortable that she prefered the table over the chairs. She smiled when he asked how she would know that and he began talking about having a bad complextion. 'Well, you talk about being Marked rather than just giving me a good reason first!' she said. It amused her that she'd found out that the guy was Marked but she even didn't know his name so what did it matter? She would probably never see him again, especially not after she'd busted him.
She raised an eyebrow when he finally gave her something he wanted her to think of as a good excuse, but she wasn't fooled. She folded her arms over her wraist and waited for a real excuse. When that didn't come she decided to say something. 'Yeah sure... actually, my friend and I have still contact and I could call her right now and describe you to her.' she threatened but she wouldn't really do it. She and her friend didn't even have contact and she hoped that the guy didn't have a weird affinity to read minds or so. Yes she even knew about affinities.
When he asked her why she liked to do night shifts she shrugged. 'If I work at night I have the whole day free instead of having to work then. That isn't too hard to guess right?' she asked him curiously.

A small, trademark twitch if the lips was one of his few give aways that he was amused, but Carter was. He couldn't help but be intrigued by this girl, something about her just seemed.... Stop it! He caught himself firmly, she was human, and humans were a big no go area. He knew that, Hell there were plenty of girls at the House of Night, why was he looking at her? Stop it." You were the one who mentioned being Marked first Darlin'." Damn it, she had a friend who was Marked? Did he know her? Well he had know way of knowing since she hadn't mentioned a name. Should he continue bluffing or...? " Fine..." He relented finally. Carefully Carter reached up to his forehead, going to the very end of his tattoo and smudging away the tiniest amount of concealer away to reveal just a small part of blue skin. He could cover that easily enough by smudging later. " You caught me"And No, mind reading wasn't his affinity, but hopefully she wouldn't need to find out about his special gift. Although he didn't get whole lot of choice when it showed himself, lucky him. Carter smirked at her idea on night, she had a point, " Burning the candle at both ends, can't blame ya eh?"

Being a human is great When he called her "darlin" she lifted one eyebrow. And she wondered if there was anyone in the theater except for them. She glanced to her watch and cursed in her mind, her shift was over and she had to get home before her mother would notice something. But hey, she could always say "I met a fledgling vampyre while I was working" her lips curled up in a small smile, how would her mother react on that? Probably like "Oh no! He didn't hurt you did he? Did he suck your blood?!" and then run around the house in panic. 'Yes, I know that.' she said.
When he said that she'd caught him she was glad that she wasn't a stupid human who thought that vampyres sucked blood from humans randomly because they wanted to. 'Oh well, we'll probably never see each other again. Stupid me, I didn't even introduce myself. I'm Imogen, don't laugh at my weird name, my dad was drunk.' her lips curled up in a smile again when she mentioned her father being drunk. He actually had been drunk, but he wasn't the one who had named her. He always pronounced her name like that, and it had stayed like that from then.
She nodded when he said something about "Burning the candle at the right ends" although she had no idea what it meant. 'My mother always bugs me by saying I don't get enough sleep, as if I mind.' she didn't know why she told him that, maybe because he was pretty? Or because he was a fledgling? No contact she tried to remind herself He was the one to break that rule! it was like her head was fighting. The first thought was losing.

Wouldn't they ever see eachother again? No they shouldn't, Carter knew that, but then again, did he want it to be like that? It was nice talking to her, especially since she'd not gone running when she saw his mark. It was a nice change, even his family looked at him differently. She was different, it was... Nice. But he shouldn't be seeing her again, she was a human, he couldn't assosiate, although he'd almost broken that one. " Yea... I guess we wont..." He sighed. Imogen... It suited her, unsusual, unique, just like her. He smiled lightly, leaning forward, closer to her and offered a hand. "Carter." Sleep was something that stayed the same about Carter, before being marked and after, he loved his sleep. The only think that really changed was now he slept during the day. " I'm a lazy ass myself, you need sleep, hey if you're working at night, during the day works. Trust me."

Being a human is great She was slightly disappointed -no, very disappointed- that they would never see each other again. Hey, she worked here, maybe they could keep meeting each other? Nobody would notice that Carter was Marked and was becoming a vampyre. Only she had noticed it, and that was because the lights were brighter than normally. And that was caused because there was something wrong with the electricity. Otherwise, she would never have noticed it at all. She noticed that he sighed while he said that he guessed they would never see each other, and she was determined to see him again. 'Well, I don't want to get you in any trouble...' she said, she just couldn't hide in her voice that she was dissapointed.
When he offered her a hand, she shook it, but quickly released it. Don't get too used to it, you're never going to see him again. she tried to lock that in her head, but it was quickly gone. 'Cool name, Carter.' she said. 'Mostly when I say my name people ask me if I have parents from a far country, well, no.' she wondered why she told him all this, maybe because they would never see each other again? Talking to him was just as easy as talking to any human guy. She didn't miss that. In fact, she even had some socializing trouble.
She laughed a little when he said that when you were working during the day sleeping at day worked. She would have to trust him with that. 'Well, I just have to believe you, I guess.' she said. She wondered how long he was already out of his "home" for how long could fledglings stay out of the House of Night? 'Hey, when do you need to go... back?' she asked hesitatingly.

Immediately Carter felt bad for his words, he was fairly good at reading people and he could tell there was something wrong with Imogen. Did she not what their new found friendship to end? Well neither did he. But who would want a relationship with someone who was slowing becoming less and less human, or alternitivly could up and die without a moments notice. Who would want a friend like that? When she said she didn't want him in trouble he smirked, " I have no problem getting in trouble, who would know anyway?" He swallowed as he tried to make amanze. He hadn't meant to upset her, in fact that was the last thing he wanted to do. As he lent forward, Carter was surprised by how quickly she dropped his hand, had he upset her? Damn it he'd blown it he'd - Hold on! He'd blown what? There was nothing to be blown, he couldn't have anything with this girl, she was a human, it wasn't allowed. But at the same time, did it really matter? " I like Imogen, it's unique, just like someone I know." Whou, where did that come from? Why on earth had he said that? Was he trying to make this harder on himself? Anyway, what girl would want a relationship with a fledgling, surly someone like Imogen had her pick of the human guys out there. What time did he have to be back? Well curfew was 6am, but he couldn't stay out that long. He couldn't be away from full blown Vampyres for too long, else bad things happened. " I dunno," He sighed finally, " Few hours maybe? When does your shift end?"Wait, that was not a smart question. If he asked that he'd want to ask her to do something after, not helping the whole stay away thing at all.
