Appearance: At 5ft 2 Jaya thinks she's stopped growing, leaving her seriously small for her age.
Her hair is a dark, almost mahogany brown which falls in loose waves a few inches passed her shoulders. She keeps it cut it a side parting with a fridge, liking to be able to hide behind it when necessary. It was a security thing with Jaya, she just likes to hide inside herself on occasion, hiding behind her hair is often a sign of that.
People say her eyes are the most striking thing about her though. They are topaz-green, a very unique colour. They change with what's she's wearing, some days more green then others.
Personality:
Basically, Jaya's a good kid, honest. She can be sarcastic, stubborn, even hot headed, but she, underneath she does have a good heart. She will do her best to help you, as long as you're a friend, and she'll have your back.
Although Jaya can hold a serious grudge. If you hurt her or betray her trust it's almost impossible to get back. You getter hope your relationship was strong before, only then she may forgive you. And forgiving doesn't equal trusting, not in the slightest.
But she's a good friend, willing to go the extra mile for people she cares about.

History: Jaya was born to Misha and James Lightrain as their second born child, after Jonah (9 years her elder). The family hadn't wanted another child, Jaya was that sort of Surprise but was accepted and loved by the family none the less. Jonah loved the idea of having a little sister, and took on the roll of her personal body guard.
Some people have extraordinary histories, but not Jaya, she was as stranded as you got, loving family, good school, above average grades, ass fairly normal. All until shortly before her 13th birthday.
The family (minus Jonah who was away at collage) had been in a neighboring state, visiting Misha's mother and were driving home late one night. It was late and James was really to tired to be driving. Although Misha offered repeatedly to take over the wheel he refused, convinced he could handle it. In the end, while Jaya and her mother slept, James finally nodding off, the car drifting into the line of incoming traffic and hit at 60 miles an hour by an on coming truck.
The doctors said James was killed on impact, and Misha's heat beat stopped on the way to the hospital.
As for Jaya? The doctors weren't sure, she was rushed to the OR and the only other surviving member of the immediate family, Jonah was called.
In the end Jaya has no lasting damage, not even any physical scars worth mentioning, and although some emotional ones are there, she covers them up well.
Jonah took full custody of Jaya, quitting collage and moving back home to live with her. She always felt back about that, Jonah gave up his education for her, he shouldn't have had to do that.
3 years after the accident, Jaya was marked by a tracker. She'd been alone in the house after school, waiting for Jonah to appear and keeping herself busy by cooking.
2 hours later when Jonah returned he found Jaya, in the bathroom, staring and tracing her forehead, looking at the tattoo.
So it was decided. Jaya was to go to the house of night. Hey maybe now Jonah could finish his schooling, maybe it would be best for everyone.
Her new surname was choice as a bit of a private joke, if only to her. Jaya thought it was funny...
