Got bored and decided to make a more in-depth listing of the horses here at the House of Night. ;D If your character happened to own(ed) horses before getting Marked, you can add your own info in a reply and I'll add the horse to the inhabitants list.
Horses Owned by the School or by Professors:
Thunder
A handsome bay Thoroughbred standing at 16.2 hands. A racehorse as a colt, Thunder stopped racing when his owner, a vampyre, decided to donate him to the House of Night. Thunder is temperamental and feared by a fair number of the fledglings, and he has been known to deliberately throw vampyres and fledglings he doesn't like. Moral of the story? Don't annoy the stallion.
Moonlight
A black Irish Hunter stallion standing at 16 hands. As personal favorite of Professor Darkshadow, Moonlight is generally not rode by fledglings. He is generally calm and friendly, but is also highly opinionated. He is an excellent competition horse, and has competed in various events all around the state.
Eclipse
Beautiful dappled gray Andalusian mare, standing at 15 hands. Eclipse is spirited and patient, and is a favorite for fledglings only just learning to ride or for the more timid ones. She is gentle and adaptable: Eclipse will adjust to fit the riding style of anyone. However, she is terrified of whips and has been known to have panic attacks of sorts at even the merest sight of one.
Jasper
A Noriker stallion, liver chestnut in color with a flaxen mane and tail and standing at 17 hands. Jasper often seems intimidating, but in truth, he really isn't. He has an excellent temperament and obedient. He is persistent and sturdy, and while he is rarely, if ever, used for draft work, Jasper is a great companion for a lonely vampyre or fledgling.
Venus
A beautiful white Arabian mare standing at 15 hands, Venus is often the first picked by fledglings new to Equestrian Studies. However, she is incredibly temperamental and doesn't like to be ridden; most fledglings that want to ride her don't want to be anywhere near her from the moment they ride her. Physically, Venus lives up to her lovely name, but personality-wise she might has well be called "Witch".
Saturn
A young palomino-and-white pinto colt, two and a half years of age. Saturn is skittish and stubborn, and while he doesn't like being ordered around, he's really quite sweet once you get to know him. He isn't afraid to "voice" his opinion, whether that means a hoof in the face or throwing an unlucky rider off his back. Saturn is generally fearful of anyone he does not know and trust, and really, he only trusts the Equestrian Studies professor and Alaine, the High Priestess.
Galaxy
A black Friesian mare standing at 15 hands, Galaxy is gentle and kind. She is accepting and while not particularly patient, Galaxy is an excellent companion. She has been described as the "tough love" horse, and is often the first suggestion for fledglings that frequently act rebelliously or have something against animals.
Horses Owned by Students:
Sparks
An appaloosa mare owned by Yoki Runningwind. (PM me to add a longer description)
Midnight Star
A cheeky Shire cross Arab mare owned by Allyssianne Roth, Midnight Star has a habit of nicking things out of people's pockets. Aged at roughly seven years old, the 18hh mare is a sleek black from the tips of her ears down to the feather on her hooves apart from a diamond patch on her forehead and a white sock on her left hindleg. Her mane and tail are left to grow long in the Shire fashion, albeit they are normally plaited roughly to stop them getting tangled. In personality, Star is cheeky and curious, enjoying playing tricks on the riders. Her list of 'fun' things to do include jumping the fence, shying at imaginary objects and jumping into her rodeo act for no apparent reason. However, she can be an adorable horse, when it suits her.
