Dinner had long ago been served and the fledglings dispersed for the night (or day? she still wasn't used to this nocturnal schedule, that's for sure). By this point, the campus was quiet, apart from the loud and obnoxious ruckus in the dorms. Vanessa, not really one for the loud parties, had retreated to the library for some peace and quiet while she finished her four page essay on vampyres involved with human politics (a stupid assignment, in her opinion, but one that had to be finished by class in the morning, nonetheless).
She had been working for a good half hour at the least, and was more than a little bit bored. Though the librarian was nowhere to be seen (in fact, the librarian was missing six days out of seven, and no one paid any attention to the fact), Anessa unceremoniously dropped her pen on her partial essay, shoved her chair backwards, and stood up.
A little too quickly, as it turned out. While she gripped the table and tried to regain her balance, she distinctly heard the door opening, then, moments later, closing. Who's that, I wonder?

Andy walked into the library, his cat following after him as she always does. "No, we are not getting a book on mice just so you can look at the pictures." he told her before she jump into his arms. It's one thing to have a cat meow and complain at you, it's another to have her voice actually in your head. He petted the cat, going into the fiction side of the library and browsed through the books, pulling out a few of them. "How about this one? This one has a mouse in it." he said, showing Rain the book, "The mouse and the motorcycle." he smiled as she sneezed, showing her dislike for the book. "Fine, suit yourself."
With his few books he chose a comfertable seat that he normally sat at and put the books on the table, opening one and began to read while the cat sat in his lap purring and occasionally looked at the book too. If he didn't know any better he swore she was reading with him.

Anessa didn't recognize the fledgling that walked in, at least, not at first. She watched him browse through the fiction section for a few minutes, then something clicked and she remembered that he was a fifth former, though the name escaped her. Since when did anybody go to the library just to read? she mused thoughtfully, her joints crackling as she stretched briefly.
Curious and not at all shy, Anessa boldly wandered over to the older fledgling and cheerfully remarked, "You're a fifth former, right? I'm Anessa, I got here last month. I can't recall your name though...?"

Andy nearly jumped out of his seat as the voice came to him, Rain grummbling at him for moving. He looked up at the girl, trying to remember where he had seen her before. She seemed to know who he was, even if she couldn't remember his name. "Yeah, I'm a fifth former." he said slowly, petting the bengal cat in his lap. "I'm Andrew but you can just call me Andy." he said, still trying to recall to where he had seen her-or at least she could have possibly seen him.
Maybe they had a class together. "And you're..." he trailed off before looking at the cat. "Oh, this is Rain." he added before she could complain to him.

Patient despite repeating herself, Anessa repeated her name slower and more clearly. "I'm Anessa- I took the 'v' off of Vanessa when I was Marked. I like your cat, she's pretty." She smiled, looking all the world like a totally ordinary teenager, not a fledgling haunted by nightmares involving her own demise. "Andy, huh? Yeah, that sounds familiar."
